The　will　to　do　springs　from　the　knowledge　that　we　can　do。　Doubt　and　fear　are　the　great　enemies　of　knowledge；　and　he　who　encourages　them；　who　does　not　slay　them；　thwarts　himself　at　every　step。

He　who　has　conquered　doubt　and　fear　has　conquered　failure。　His　every；　thought　is　allied　with　power；　and　all　difficulties　are　bravely　met　and　wisely　overe。　His　purposes　are　seasonably　planted；　and　they　bloom　and　bring　forth　fruit；　which　does　not　fall　prematurely　to　the　ground。

Thought　allied　fearlessly　to　purpose　bees　creative　force；　he　who　knows　this　is　ready　to　bee　something　higher　and　stronger　than　a　mere　bundle　of　wavering　thoughts　and　fluctuating　sensations；　he　who　does　this　has　bee　the　conscious　and　intelligent　wielder　of　his　mental　powers。

我們的時代就是這樣矛盾。樓房高了，脾氣卻暴了；馬路寬了，視野卻窄了；付出的多了，擁有的卻少了；買的多了，享受的卻少了。

我們的房子大了，家卻小了；生活便捷了，時間卻少了；學歷高了，見識卻少了；知識多了，觀點卻少了；專家多了，問題也多了；藥物多了，健康卻少了。

我們喝得太多，花得太多，笑得太少；車開得太快，太易生氣；熬夜太晚，賴床太久；書讀得太少，電視看得太多，卻很少向上帝祈禱。

我們說得太多，愛得太少，且常生怨恨。我們學會的是如何生存，而不是生活。我們延長了壽命，並沒有延長生活的期限。

我們成功登月並返回，卻不能拜訪鄰里。我們能夠征服月球，卻逾越不了自己的內心。我們辦事能力大有提高，但是辦事質量毫無進展。
