I　went　out　into　the　hall。　It　was　a　bare　hall　with　two　windows　and　closed　doors　all　down　the　corridor。　It　smelled　of　hospital。　I　sat　on　the　chair　and　looked　at　the　floor　and　prayed　for　Catherine。
